IN THE CAULDRON
Reality TV shows. So over-cooked right? Wrong. This is Masterchef, Shakespeare style. A dash of turmoil, a sprinkling of romance, a twist of surprise and a heaped serving of drama – Shakespeare has never been so digestible. IN THE CAULDRON combines scenes from some of Shakespeare’s most studied plays and, through re-contextualisation and discussion, demonstrates the relevance of Shakespeare today. Three young contestants are thrust into the workroom on a quest to uncover new meaning, relevance and understanding in the recipe book that is The Complete Works. All the ingredients are there but can these three bold young people combine them in a way that doesn’t leave a stale and bitter taste in their mouths?
WHY THEY’LL ♥ IT
It’s a showcase of what actors do best – play! By experiencing the sheer joy of performers taking Shakespeare and making it truly their own, students will feel much more comfortable tackling the texts in the classroom.
WHY YOU’LL ♥ IT
Great for re-contextualisation and helps students see (rather than just read or hear) how Shakespeare’s words can be interpreted and performed in many different ways to alter and shape meaning.
