Education Manager [Parental Leave Contract]

Contract: Fixed-term maternity leave cover (pro-rata, up to 30 hours)

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled, energetic, passionate, and highly organised Education Manager to join our team on a parental leave contract. This role would suit a person who is not only an experienced educator but also has a keen appreciation for the professional arts industry - someone who understands both the classroom and the stage, bringing a hands-on, dynamic approach to arts education.
As Education Manager, you will lead the planning, organisation, and delivery of teacher professional development (PD) sessions across Queensland, provide educational and curriculum support for all aspects of Shake & Stir’s work, and play a key role in expanding the company’s presence in schools.
Key Responsibilities
Organise, plan, and deliver teacher professional development (PD) workshops in Brisbane and across Queensland across multiple art forms.
Provide curriculum-aligned educational support across Shake & Stir’s productions, workshops, and school programs.
Offer behavioural and pedagogical guidance to actors and instructors delivering in-school workshops and performances.
Actively seek out and attend local, state, and national education and arts conferences to promote Shake & Stir and build industry knowledge.
Strengthen relationships with schools, teachers, and education stakeholders to expand the reach of Shake & Stir’s education programs.
Assist in developing engaging, curriculum-aligned resources for students and teachers.
Support the marketing, outreach, and advocacy of Shake & Stir’s educational offerings.
Bring your own creative arts practice into the role, contributing ideas and insights that enhance Shake & Stir’s educational and artistic offerings.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings energy, passion, and initiative to the role, with the ability to engage and inspire educators and students alike. The ideal candidate will have:
A deep passion for the arts and education, with experience in drama, theatre, or arts education.
A background as both an educator and a creative arts practitioner.
Experience delivering teacher professional development, curriculum writing, or school engagement programs.
Strong knowledge of the Queensland and Australian Curriculum, particularly in drama and the arts.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with teachers, schools, and education partners.
A proactive approach to attending conferences, networking, and advocating for arts education.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-moving, creative environment.
Strong organisational and project management skills, with a can-do attitude.
Requirements
Teaching experience and/or a background in education.
Experience facilitating professional development workshops.
Familiarity with the school touring and arts education landscape in Australia.
Experience attending and presenting at education conferences and PD’s.
