Regional & Remote
Arts for School | Anywhere Across Queensland
The Regional & Remote Schools Touring Service is an initiative of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, delivered by Shake & Stir Theatre Co in partnership with the Department of Education.
More than a touring program, the service exists to ensure young people across Queensland, regardless of geography, have access to high-quality, curriculum-aligned arts experiences that inspire creativity, confidence, and connection.
For over 20 years, Shake & Stir has worked alongside schools and communities to deliver meaningful arts engagement across the state. Through this initiative, we provide accessible and inclusive programs for Early Years through to Secondary students across a wide range of artforms including drama, music, dance, media arts and visual arts.
Our offerings include:
- Curriculum-aligned live performances
- Creative workshops and artist residencies
- Teacher Professional Development opportunities
- Tailored engagement models for schools and communities
- Programs supporting wellbeing, inclusion, pastoral care, and behavioural engagement
In 2026, Shake & Stir is proud to continue supporting Queensland teachers and students through a diverse range of arts experiences delivered in regional communities. Programs are linked to the Queensland Curriculum and ACARA, while also supporting broader creative practice, wellbeing, inclusivity, and creative confidence in the classroom.
Whether working with a large regional school or a small remote campus, our focus remains the same: delivering exceptional arts experiences that are flexible, relevant, and accessible for every community.
Thus far, the Regional & Remote Schools Touring Service has delivered:
➔ Engagements to more than 250 Queensland schools
➔ Access to live arts experiences for more than 75,000 Queensland students
➔ Programs in remote and regional locations including the Torres Strait, Camooweal, Bedourie, Karumba, Mornington Island, Birdsville, Thargomindah, and beyond
From regional city classrooms to some of Queensland’s most remote communities, the service brings the transformative power of the arts directly to young people across the state.
Whatever your school’s size, needs, or budget, Shake & Stir will work with you to create an experience that fits.
