Holiday Workshop Onstage / Backstage

Your interests. Your choices.
Your week in theatre.

Back by popular demand. Our annual December Holiday Workshop returns to QPAC for five days of exploration and theatrical adventure. With a new addition this year having added behind-the-scenes workshops.

The best part? You choose what you want to do!

Whether you dream of stepping into the spotlight, bringing a production to life backstage or exploring a little bit of everything, you can shape your own program around the skills and areas of theatre that interest you most. With hands-on workshops led by industry professionals, there are plenty of opportunities to try something new, build your skills and discover what excites you.

Step 1:
Choose your 2 main genres
- Musical Theatre - explore the trifecta - acting, singing and dance.
- Film & TV - explore performing in-front of the camera.
- Acting, & Directing - explore a script through the eyes of both an actor and a director, developing skills in script analysis, character interpretation and bringing stories to life from both on and off stage perspectives.

Step 2:
Choose your 1 minor genre:
- Stage Combat - explore the techniques behind dynamic stage action.
- Set & Costume Design - explore how visual elements bring a production to life.

Step 3:
Choose 2 additional workshops:
- Improvisation & Clowning - explore comedy; play and think on your feet.
- Accents - explore the standard American accent.
- Script Adaptation - explore transforming stories for the stage. You can even choose this workshop twice if behind-the-scenes storytelling is more your thing!
